Meeting this Monday! Nov. 5

Some of us will only be at our usual gatherin g in spirit....we'll be across the hall in the workshop with Lian Zhen - Chinese Brushwork.  It might be ok for you to come over and take a peek at what we're up to, it depends on the timing.  It wouldn't be a good idea to burst in when he's doing a demo, etc but hopefully one of us can slip over to say hi!

Hope all will have a great time creating

A young artist and an Evolving Embroidery

Sue's newest creation...
Sue, a member of MMA,  is designing her newest piece using specified types of stitches that her embroidery group is assigned monthly in a square format. The piece will become a box cover when completed.  Sue has extensive knowledge of color, design and embroidery so her creations are indeed unique and beautiful. If you look closely, you will see the insects that are exploring the flowers in her design.
Pam broutht a beautiful quilt that she is doing the finishing touches on, a commission.  Mary brought a colored pencil piece that she is working on and shared a resource for obtaining inexpensive yet quality prints.  Ruth brought a few more of the materials from our recent show at the Yellow Springs Arts Council gallery and continued work on a lovely pastel.  Ann, Toni and Rebecca came to kibitz, visit and work a bit.  We were also joined by Yuki who worked on small paintings and shared info about upcoming workshops with WOWs.  Sandy Kinnemon came and did some watercolor work and Libby (me : ) did what I could to work a bit, inbetween conversations and queries. Lastly, we were joined by a sweet Mom, Elizabeth with babe in arms.

Next meeting will be the SECOND monday in September, due to Labor Day falling on the first Monday.  See you then, if not sooner!

Ruth found out that Yuki has been included in a juried show in Cincinnati!  www.cincyart.com - Congratulations Yuki!

YSAC - Come Create n Chat about our show

We meet this coming Monday, May 7 to paint/sew/draw, etc for awhile.  We will then discuss our upcoming show and fill in the required saturdays, etc that YSAC requires of us.

If you are motivated, you can put together a workshop to offer to the public during your saturday stint too...  or, hmmmm, maybe even during the opening?  You can determine the charge for your materials, whether people need to sign up in advance.  If we get your info soon enough, YSAC will help promote it too!  Please check out the Exuberence page because I posted a few paintings.

HEY - check out our new logo - like it?  I couldn't figure out how to make the letters behave properly but I kind of like the querkiness of upside down and backwards letters...xoxL

May 7 meeting and...YSArts Council Show in June

LogoWe meet with the Yellow Springs Arts Council today to iron out the details of our upcoming show at the YS Arts Council Gallery Space for the month of June - July.  We will host the "Friday Fling" on June 15, 6-9pm.  We're figuring out other times to be open too.....

Here is the description that is at the YSAC web page - want any changes?    "One of the fun things about meeting as a group of individuals who create is that we watch each other using varous mediums, learning about the creative process that is unique to each individual.  We can critique each other's work, if asked : ), and perhaps come with a more dynamic piece. Join us for a dynamic and diverse show!"

We meet as a group monday, May 7 - see you there.

OH - I still need photos of your work for the show, if you have them, to put up on our blog.

Trying new mediums...

One of the fun things about meeting as a group of individuals who create is that...
we can watch eachother doing using various mediums, learn about the creative process that is unique to each individual.  We can critique eachother work (if asked : ) and perhaps come up with a more dynamic composition.

Two of us toured the new YSArts Council space over by Williams Eatery and we think it will do nicely for our show this summer.    Below is a photo from a project we did a few years ago - this time, maybe at the YS Arts Council space - during our show?

Keep creating all!
